Fabulous pair of white bloomers, antique knickerbockers with lace trim at the leg. They are open inseams to allow body functions and ventilation with ease. Featuring an interesting fron waistband with pleating and embroidered initials. These came from a costumier, so will have been worn on stage an screen, which may explain the printed name 'Holanda' on the back.
They have a faded typography print on the back that says Holanda in a rather snazzy font, but I have no clue the reason or purpose. They came from a costumier so it may have been due to the performance, or it may be from the launderer or just the name of the owner. Close to that is a smaller print which looks like it say Roma and next to that is an extremely faded handwritten mark which also looks like it says Holanda, it's so pale though it looks like it had been written in pencil.
- Victorian bloomers with open inner leg.
- Back drawstring ties to gather to fit.
- Crochet lace frill edging the legs with ribbon ties to fit to calves.
- Shaped waist with pleated front, embroidered with red monogram initials.
Measures laid flat edge to edge:
- 28" waist at smallest measurement up to 50".
- 31" length excluding lace.
Condition - Excellent and wearable, there's a feint water mark at the waist and a tiny spot on the leg. I didn't want to hive them a hotter wash because I wanted to retain the text and writing as mentioned.
